Students at St Mark's Celebrate A Level & BTech Success!

Students have achieved results well above national expectations

Students at St Mark’s Church of England Academy in Mitcham, part of Anthem Schools Trust, are celebrating after receiving their A Level/B Tech results.

Teenagers across the country are collecting their results after sitting exams in May and June.

Across the country, sixth formers have recorded excellent achievements with the students of St Mark’s adding to this success.

Thanks to the hard work of both students and staff, there is lots to celebrate, with many students going on to take up places at university, or on an apprenticeship, as well as those who are entering the workplace.

St Mark’s students have achieved results well above national expectations this year. On average, they scored half a grade higher in each subject than students with similar starting points across the country. Some subjects performed even more strongly, with chemistry and physics averaging over a full grade higher and Spanish achieving an exceptional 1.14 grades higher than comparable students nationally.

Other subjects also saw exceptional progress, with students in art scoring almost a full grade higher than similar students nationally, psychology three-quarters of a grade higher, and maths just over seven-tenths of a grade higher.

Students taking vocational courses also achieved outstanding results, with those in health and social care and IT BTEC scoring close to a full grade higher than similar students nationally.

Among the high performers and special mentions are:

  • Hawa Abu: A in biology, A in EPQ, B in chemistry, B in Maths; intends to study dentistry at the City of London university.
  • Maryama Abdirashid Hussein: A in maths, B in chemistry, C in biology; she plans to study medicine or dentistry.
